Les étudiants à Londres

Vincent Riebler

•  What I did before master in London :

Before starting my master's degree at Eshotel in London , I passed my BTS (two years after A levels) in Toulouse , France , specializing in hospitality and catering and majoring in management, accounting and marketing).

•  Why I went to London :

I chose to go to London to have a learning experience abroad. I think it could be very interesting for young people such as students to leave their country and to experience another one. It is certainly good for our English level, for the way we are able to manage your lives on our own, and to discover a country with its culture, religion, and gastronomy.

•  Difficulties at my arrival:

My first difficulty when I arrived in London was to find accommodations. I was looking for a room to share in a share house, but not too far from school, so that's why it was a problem because Eshotel is situated in Russell Square , smack in the centre of London . I finally found a share house in King's Cross, which is very well situated (Zone 1, Piccadilly line) thanks to an agency.

I am really satisfied with this share house because there is only one stop between the school underground station and King's Cross station. So it gives me the opportunity to work without spending time in transportation, and also I can try to find a job in the centre of the city.

My second difficulty was finding a job. Indeed, I need money to finance my studies, so I work in a bar-restaurant-club, which is in Berkley Square ( Green Park station). So far I have worked every Friday and Saturday nights in the cloakroom. I have had an interview with the boss and hope to work for him in the restaurant.

My third difficulty was to open a bank account. I had to enrol myself on the Web and to plan a rendezvous with an employee of the bank to check out my enrolment..

These three things were not really big difficulties, but you have to do that as soon as you arrive, so if you are a bit organized and if you really know what you want, you can easily find what you are looking for.

•  Why I appreciate London :

London is such a great city. I am really happy to be here. There are so many things to do and to see that it is really worth a visit. I will not miss out on the opportunity to discover its highlights. This city can be proud of its museums, monuments, parks, exhibitions, theatres, operas, bars. It is a cosmopolitan city where a lot of different cultures are mixed .

•  My first impressions about school:

My first impression of the school was pretty good. We are only ten students and with a little group you can work quickly and easily.

But I am also a bit anxious about the level of English. Indeed, every course is in English and at the end of the day I am tired trying to understand every teacher. It is difficult for foreigners, but I am positive and I think after a month it will be easier.

Concerning the program, I find it very interesting and I am really impatient to study more. There is also a lot of homework that you have to do.

•  What I would like to do after this year:

I intend to continue the Eshotel Master in Paris.
